A New Season Dawns for the Mitchell Hawks

The Mitchell Hawks are gearing up for an exciting new season, and there is plenty to look forward to both on and off the ice.

The Hawks are proud to welcome Veg Gro Markets as the team’s new title sponsor. We are incredibly excited to have Veg Gro Markets on board and appreciate their support of Hawks hockey and our local community.

The upcoming season also marks the return of a familiar coaching and leadership group. Head Coach Tim Schultz will lead the team once again, joined by assistant coaches Andrew Lorimer, Patrick Holloway and Ron White. The Hawks are also pleased to welcome back GM and President Cory Broughton as the organization continues to build for the future.

With major upgrades to the Mitchell & District Community Centre, there is plenty of excitement surrounding the home of Hawks hockey. The improvements will provide a great new experience for players, families and fans, and we can’t wait to see the finished product come together.

The Hawks will officially hit the ice at home on Friday, September 18, for the home opener. And you’re going to want to come hungry — the team will be hosting a Wing Night during the opener, making it a great night to grab some food, enjoy the game and kick off the new season with the Hawks.

The excitement continues the following day with the Arena Grand Opening on Saturday, September 19. To celebrate, the Hawks will host a free Skate with the Hawks from 4:00–5:30 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for local families and young hockey fans to get out on the ice and meet some of the Hawks.

It’s shaping up to be a great season in Mitchell. New title sponsor, familiar faces behind the bench, returning leadership, a newly upgraded arena and Hawks hockey — we’ll see you at the rink!
